.How to start

Starting something new can be daunting, but it’s the first step that leads to growth and achievement. Embrace the process, stay consistent, and believe in yourself.

Growth

"You’re cringe" - that was the first comment I got under my first video. 50 views, 1 comment, 4 hours of writing the script, recording, and not to mention months of encouraging myself to press that record button.

In the next few weeks, I didn’t record anything. Actually, I deleted my account and thought to myself - it’s not for me.

But I gave it another shot after a few months.

"You’re English is so bad, I can’t understand a word" - hooray, the second comment was not so bad. At least it’s not “cringe.”

My third video was without any comments. Fourth, fifth… and my 100th video got its first 100,000 views.

Looking back, I understand that anything you do for the first time is a bit cringy. It’s a bit awkward. It’s totally not perfect. Actually, most often it is bad.

If you keep going, it becomes better and better. You become better at the things you do.

My point is you can do so much research, so much reading, so much preparing, but you need to start.

How do you start singing?

1  Enjoy the process

Accept that your first attempts might not be perfect, and that's okay. Focus on progress, not perfection, and most importantly, find the joy not in the results but in the process of doing.

Think of it like learning to ride a bike; the falls and scrapes are part of the journey.

2  Show up every day

Consistency is key. Make a schedule and stick to it. The more you practice, the better you'll get. Discipline yourself to practice every day.

The theory of 100 hours says that if you spend about 18 minutes a day for a whole year, you’ll know more about the topic than 96% of the population.

Yes, it doesn’t make you an expert, but it gives you significant knowledge.

3  Believe in yourself

Constructive criticism is a great source of improvement, but don’t allow anyone to kill the fun.

Remember, even the most successful people started somewhere.

For every negative comment, there might be a silent viewer who was inspired by your courage to start.

4  Find a community

Surround yourself with people who share your interests and understand your journey. Online forums, local groups, or even social media can be a great place to find support and feedback.

5  Set Specific Goals

Instead of vague goals like "get better," set specific, achievable goals. For example, "I want to improve my editing skills," or "I aim to learn 100 new words."

Breaking down your larger objectives into smaller, manageable tasks can make the journey less daunting.

Starting something new can be daunting, but it's the first step that leads to growth and achievement. So, what are you waiting for? Take that step today and keep moving forward.
